We couldn't fix the old ratings in a fair way, so everyone now starts at 1500. This allows the system to find your current level again.
This is how it works now
Each task gives you the opportunity to earn 100% of the task's prize.
Hints and incorrect moves reduce your prize. For example, if the task requires three moves and you make an incorrect move during the process, you lose part of the possible prize. A wrong move doesn't end the task - you get the chance to try again.
In a task with only one move, a wrong move costs the entire prize, because there is only one move to find.
The rating also adapts better
The rating no longer remains static if you haven't played for a while. After a longer period of inactivity, your next tasks will affect the rating more, so that the system can adapt the rating to your current level more quickly.
Analyze the task afterwards
When the task is completed, you can press ? Analyze and examine the score freely.
The analysis does not affect your rating. You can move the pieces, review your own variations and compare them directly with the answer. You can also click through the moves and use the arrows to fast forward and rewind.
Other improvements
You can see which moves you have already tried.
Show solution is visible from the start, so the page no longer jumps.
The task no longer changes when you reload the page or change language.
The tactics tasks are now available in Danish, Kalaallisut and English.
Your rating quickly finds your level
The first tasks can move your rating quite a bit. This is intentional: the system needs to quickly figure out where your level is.
After a few weeks of regular training, the rating will usually be much more stable and give a better picture of your current level.
Remember: The most important thing is the training – not the number. An honest 1450 is worth more than an inflated 2300.
