Greenland admitted as provisional member of the International Braille Chess Association (IBCA)

The Greenland Chess Association (KNSK) has received the good news that Greenland has been admitted as a provisional member of the International Braille Chess Association (IBCA).

The decision was made at the IBCA board meeting on July 11, 2026, where Greenland's application was approved. This means that Greenland can already participate in IBCA's international cooperation and activities.

The final approval as a permanent member is expected to take place at the IBCA congress on October 15, 2026 where the membership will be considered by the congress.

IBCA is the international organization for chess players with visual impairments and works to promote chess and create international tournament and development opportunities for blind and visually impaired players all over the world.

The admission is another important step in Greenland's international work within chess and strengthens our cooperation with the international chess organizations.

The Greenland Chess Federation looks forward to active cooperation with IBCA and to contributing to the development of chess for the visually impaired – both in Greenland and internationally.
